A man in Bengaluru has been awarded compensation of ₹2,000/- in his case against the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) alleging that the conductor refused him change of ₹1 on purchase of the bus ticket.
In 2019, he was travelling BMTC bus during which the conductor issued a ticket for ₹29, for which he paid ₹30 to the bus conductor. It was his case that change of ₹1 was denied.
Aggrieved, he approached the consumer court seeking compensation of ₹15,000.
The Commission after taking facts into consideration, granted him partial relief and directed BMTC to relief of ₹2,000 along with ₹1,000 for court fees.
The BMTC was instructed to pay the sum within 45 days, failing which an interest rate of ₹6,000 per annum would apply.

Later, in a counter-affidavit, BMTC denied alllegtion of deficiency in service and sought the dismissal of the complain, calling the matter trivial.
The Commision however, lauded the complainant for perusing the case that concerns consumer's rights and adjudged him worthy of the relief granted.
