Delhi Police has arrested a man for allegedly giving a revolver to suspended lawyer Kameshwar Singh, who shot at a woman in the Saket Court on Friday. Police said they had also recovered the weapon from Faridabad.
The accused has been identified as Ajay, an ex-serviceman, who was also injured. Crime Branch alleged that Ajay used to work as the personal security officer (PSO) for Singh while the district police maintained that he was a munshi in theCourt.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (south) Chandan Chowdhary said Singh was sent to 14 days' judicial custody.
She said, "We recovered the weapon from bushes in Faridabad at his instance," she said. The DCP added that Ajay had a licence for the weapon. "He works as a munshi in the court, not a PSO".
Ajay has been arrested for his alleged involvement in the conspiracy, Chowdhary said. "He was in touch with the main accused. Ajay was able to sneak in the revolver as he was in a lawyer's attire," she said.
The investigation has revealed that a monetary dispute was behind the shooting. "Singh had given M Radha a Rs 25-lakh loan at an exorbitant monthly interest, but she did not repay a single penny," police said. After warning her to kill in court, he made the attempt, police claimed. The woman & her family members claimed that they were threatened by Singh.
