The Dehradun Police has decided to urge the Local Court for its permission to let the department attach the property of Instagram "influencer" Bobby Kataria in the public drinking case. The property of the accused would only be attached if the police team, which left for Gurugram on Monday morning to arrest Kataria, isn't able to find the social media celebrity.
Till the time of filing this report, the Dehradun police team, comprising a sub-inspector & 2 constables, had not reached Kataria's residence in Gurugram's Bassi village.
Earlier, the Court had issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against Kataria, who is accused of consuming liquor on a busy Dehradun road, as he failed to appear before Dehradun police despite 3 summons.
Inspector Shankar Singh Bisht, station house officer of Cantonment police station (where Kataria was booked), told the news agency, "As per legal procedure, the police team will visit his address at least thrice with the NBW to arrest him. If he is not found there, we will approach the local court to get its permission to attach his property."
Earlier this month, Uttarakhand's director general of police, Ashok Kumar, ordered an inquiry into the public drinking incident which allegedly took place in early July. On July 8, Haryana-resident Bobby Kataria had uploaded a video to his verified Instagram account (with about 6.3 lakh followers) in which he can be seen sitting on a chair in the middle of an unidentified road & consuming liquor.
The video, shot by Kataria's aide, was uploaded with a background song "Roads apne baap ki" (the road belongs to my father).
