Court functioning was disrupted for the fourth straight day on Thursday as lawyers boycotted work seeking the advocates protection Act & compensation to the kin of lawyer Jugraj Chauhan who was brutally murdered in Jodhour last Saturday.
The Advocates took out a procession from their office near the collectorate to Shaheed Smarak near the police commissionerate.
The procession & protests by lawyers have been a disruption for ordinary people as traffic jams & congestion have been the order of the day for the last 4 days.
On Thursday, the lawyers’ associations said they will continue their protests till the last rites of the lawyer is performed.
Chauhan’s relatives refuse to perform the last rites to press for various demands including compensation & a government job for the kin, which the Jodhpur district administration said is under consideration at the appropriate level.
The Jodhpur High Court Bar Association in a statement said their protest will continue on Friday as well while the Jaipur Bar Association announced a protest march from its office at the collectorate to the HC via Panch Batti demanding the Bill.
