On Thursday, the Lucknow Police registered a case of criminal breach of trust, forgery & extortion against 3 officials & an employee of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) on the instruction of the Court of Special Judge Corruption Prevention Act, III.
Those named in the FIR are the vice-chancellor, a computer programmer, assistant registrar & section officer.
The Court issued directions on the complaint of Upendra Bahadur Singh (56), proprietor of Sainath Associates, the firm that had a contract of manpower supply with the university since 2017.
He said he was to be paid Rs 6.25 crore for the service provided in 2017 & 2018, but the university paid only Rs 3.25 crore & held back Rs 3.25 crore.
He alleged that an employee demanded a 10% commission for the release of the pending payment.
Describing allegations as fake & levelled with the intention to defame the university, BBAU registrar AK Singh said that all payments of the contractor have been cleared & his services were dismissed after an inquiry found him involved in corruption like extorting money from outsourced employees & submitting forged bank statements. “An FIR was lodged against him in this regard on July 4.
The contractor had also gone to the High Court and on its direction, the university duly disposed of his representation,” he added.
