The Division Bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, comprising Justice S.A. Dharmadhikari and Justice Prakash Chandra Gupta in the case of Dr Aman Sharma v. UOI & ors. has issued notice to the Indore Municipal Corporation and the Indore Development Authority on a public interest litigation (PIL) related to the recognition of trees as living entities and their entitlement to rights.
The PIL seeks a declaration from the court that trees should be recognized as living entities and that they should be granted certain rights.
The Bench issued notice to the respondents and made returnable within four weeks.
