Close on the heels of inking an agreement with the prestigious Leeds Beckett University of the United Kingdom, the India International University of Legal Education and Research (IIULER) here today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the New Delhi based Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies -Technical Campus (VIPS-TC).
The MoU with the purpose of academic collaboration encompassing exchange of students and faculties and development of joint training and research programmes was signed by the Vice-Chancellor, IIULER Prof. (Dr.) R Venkata Rao and the Chairperson, Vivekananda School of Law and Legal Studies (VSLLS), VIPS-TC, Prof. (Dr.) T. V. Subba Rao- the former Director of the Research and Development Council of the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) and a renowned expert of Constitutional Law, Research Methodology and Human Rights Law.
The Post Graduate Programme (LLM) of the IIULER also commenced from today and the VC Prof. (Dr.) Rao himself led the orientation event for the newly inducted LLM students. He advised them to make judicious use of time, take the holistic approach rather than the reductionist one and think with an open mind without restricting the wings of imagination. In his brief but captivating orientation speech the VC urged the students to learn 'to swim against the tide' as the kite that flies high is the one that flies against the wind'. He said that he and all the faculty of the IIULER would be the partners with the students in the academic mission being initiated today.
After the launch of the LLM programme of the IIULER, Prof. (Dr.) T. V. Subba Rao delivered a guest lecture for the students on the topic 'Research Methodology (Scientific Research)'.
Notably, the Chief Justice of India honourable Mr. Justice D Y Chandrachud had inaugurated the first academic session of the IIULER- the second only such initiative of the Bar Council of India Trust after the NLSIU, on December 3, last year. After that the Undergraduate programmes (BA LLB and BBA LLB) commenced. The various research programmes including the PhD, Diploma and Certificate Courses, Bridge Courses will also be started in the coming months
On March 7, an MoU was signed between the IIULER and the over a century old Leeds Beckett University of the United Kingdom with the intent of joint initiatives in research and curriculum development and interchange of students and staff members.
