The Delhi High Court has stayed an order passed by MCD Mayor ordering fresh elections for MCD Standing Committee.
Justice Gaurang Kanth, in a special hearing of petition filed by the elected Standing Committee members from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) whereby they opposed the impugned order contending that elections have been completed successfully, granted the stay.
Stating that both the BJP and AAP have won three seats each, they submitted that repeating the process is futile exercise.
The Court went on to provide the interim-relief and posted the matter for March 22nd.
The brawl at the MCD elections have captured eye-balls. Things escalated to even scuffle between AAP and BJP members after the Mayor declared one vote to be invalid and ordered fresh elections.
