Lakhimpur Kheri Violence: SC grants 8-week interim bail to Ashish Mishra

 

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court granted interim bail for eight weeks to Ashish Mishra, son of Union Minister Ajay Mishra, in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case.

Mishra has been accused of killings five people in October 2021, when vehicles of his convoy allegedly ran over a group of farmers who were protesting against the farm laws at that time.

The Court has directed him to leave the State of Uttar Pradesh within one week of interim bail and stay either in UP or the NCT of Delhi during the period of interim bail.

He has fruther been directed to surrender his passport and enter the State of UP only to attend the trial court proceedings.

The Court has warned Mishra that any attempt by him, his family members or supporters to influence or intimidate directly or indirectly witness will lead to cancellation of bail.
