Apex court asks Gujarat High Court to timely look after the case regarding morbi bridege collapse

 

The Top Court today told the Gujarat HC to timely look after the case and other issues associated to the Morbi bridge collapse disaster which took over 140 lives few months back.

Bench composed of CJI D Y Chandrachud and SC judge Hima Kohli noted that as a division bench led by the Chief Justice of Gujarat HC has already took a step to a suo motu order of the disaster and has resolved many orders, it won’t hear the pleas at present.

But anyhow court allowed a Public Interest Litigation petitioner and other litigant, two relatives of them died in the disaster, to go the HC with respective petitions requesting the unbiased non dependent investigation and to get award certain amount of fair compensation to victims of disaster who lost members of family.

The apex court noted that the litigants can approach SC afterwards.
