On Thursday, a special PMLA Court granted bail to former Punjab National Bank (PNB) deputy manager Gokulnath Shetty in the money laundering case allegedly involving absconding diamantaire Nirav Modi.
The bail plea, filed through Shetty’s lawyer Sandeep Karnik, said he was entitled to the relief as had spent over four years in jail, which was more than half of the maximum sentence of seven yea-rs that he was facing, if conv-icted. Shetty was arrested in April 2018. He will continue to remain in jail in the relat-ed CBI case. Last week, he got bail in the money laundering case related to absconding businessman & Modi’s uncle Mehul Choksi.
