World Radio Day is being celebrated today across the globe. On the
occasion, AIR-Delhi is today broadcasting a 'SEVEN HOUR TALKATHON' on
its FM Rainbow Channel from 08:AM to 04:00 PM leaving one hour from
11:00 AM to 12:00 noon for Broadcast of scheduled weekly programme, Post
Box No. 111.
As part of the 'TALKATHON', All India Radio organised an half an hour Open Forum this morning on FM Rainbow.
Principal Director General of All India Radio N Venudhar Reddy
interacted with the Listeners on the topic - "Credibility of All India
Radio".
Principal Director General of All India Radio, N Venudhar Reddy has said
that AIR has kept its credibility for decades and the credit for it
goes to generation of broadcasters, people behind the mic as well as
those worked on the desk for preparing news bulletins and different
types of programmes.
Participating in a Talkathon organised on the occasion of World Radio
Day, Mr Reddy said, in January this year international news organisation
Reuters held a survey on credibility of media organisations and AIR was
on the top of the survey. He said, during the pandemic different types
of things were doing rounds on the social media on what to do and not to
do.
Mr Reddy said, AIR broadcast credible and reliable information and also
the advice of qualified doctors every day during the pandemic in
different languages. He said, AIR has been part of Indian families for
generations and people learnt correct pronunciation from this medium.
Participating in the talkathon, Additional Director General of News
Services Division of AIR, Dr Atul Kumar Tiwary said, All India Radio has
kept the trust of the people and connect with them through its credible
broadcast.
He said, 46 Regional News Units and 200 Part-Time Correspondents,
Foreign Correspondents work for AIR and provide information for news
bulletins. Mr Tiwary said, AIR also broadcast in 17 foreign languages.
He said, earlier AIR was on Medium Wave and Short Wave and now it is
available in many digital platforms like mobile app, youtube, Twitter
and podcasts.
In addition, there will also be an open house session with Prasar
Bharati CEO Shashi Shekhar Vempati, tomorrow from 05:00 PM to 06:00 PM
which will be repeated between 08:00 PM and 09:00 PM on the same day.

World Radio Day is observed every year on 13th of February to stress the
importance of radio. It is also a day to remember the unique power of
radio which touches lives and brings people together from every corner
of the globe.
In this era of a technologically advanced world with easy access to the
internet and other mediums of communication, the peculiar role of radio
simply cannot be ignored.
There are a lot of people in the country who not only trust radio but
also rely on it for the consumption of news and for entertainment
purposes. Till now, radio has managed to be a prominent platform to
reach the masses in India.
On the occasion of World Radio Day, a listener Dr Lalsengzela, from Aizawl in Mizoram shared his memories of All India Radio.
Another listner, Mr Zothankunga, a retired state Information Service
Officer from Aizawl said that apart from listening to local broadcast
daily, he never miss the broadcast of English News Bulletin including a
special Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav programme in it.
