Peacefully polling for 2nd Phase of Assembly Elections of UP is underway; Single Phase polling for Assembly Election in Uttrakhand, Goa progress smoothly

 

 In Goa, amidst  tight security arrangements  single phase of voting is  underway in 40 constituencies. Out of these constituencies one seat is reserved for the Scheduled Castes.

Polling began at 7 am and it will continue till 6 pm. One thousand 722 polling stations have been set up across the state. Over 11 lakh 64 thousand 224 electorates will decide political fortune of 301 candidates including, 26 women.

State Chief Electoral Officer Kunal said, elaborate arrangements have been made to ensure free and fair elections in Goa. AIR correspondent reports, As the Assembly Election is being held in Goa during covid time, special care is being taken to conduct it.

To avoid overcrowding , 80 more polling booths have been added. Fifty polling stations are being managed by women and a few polling stations are being handled by persons with disabilities.

Special arrangements of voting has been made for 13 thousand 284  senior citizens and Divyang voters. Over one hundred booths have also been  exclusively set up for female voters.

While 105 pink booths are managed by polling officials. This time political scenario of the state is quite different in comparison with  2017 assembly elections.
 
For the first time  BJP is contesting in all the 40 assembly seats, while Congress and Goa Forward Block (GFP) are contesting in 40 seats.

Trinamool Congress (TMC) is contesting in Goa assembly elections for the first time.The TMC has made an  alliance with Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) and the alliance is contesting in 39 seats.

Aam Admi Party is also contesting in 39 seats. While NCP and Shiv Sena aliiance is fighting in 23 seats. The newly formed Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) has fielded candidates in 38 constituencies.

In Uttarakhand, Polling is underway for all 70 assembly seats in the State from 8 am today. As per reports about 18.97 percent voters cast their vote till 11 am. Meanwhile, Governor of Uttarakhand Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd) and first lady of the state Gurmit Kaur exercised their franchise at polling station Shaheed Mekh Bahadur Gurung Cantt Girls Inter College, Garhi, today.

The governor said, every vote is priceless for strengthening the democracy and appealed all voters of the state to vote.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and His wife exercised their franchise in Khatima. He also appeals to all the people to come out of their homes and break all the old records of voting. Chief Electoral Officer Sowjanya said that Peaceful polling is going on in the state. He appealed to all the voters to vote.

In the poll-bound Uttar Pradesh, polling for the Second Phase of Assembly Elections is progressing smoothly. The polling will be conducted till 6.00 P.M. in the 55 Assembly Constituencies spread over nine districts.

The state is witnessing Seven-Phase elections. In addition, the Single-Phase polling for Assembly Elections for 40 seats in Goa and 70 seats in Uttarakhand is also being held simultaneously. 23.03 percent of polling was recorded till 11 a.m.

Additional Chief Electoral Officer of the state, Dr Brahm Deo Ram Tiwari said voting is going on peacefully. There were reports of some snag in EVMs, which was corrected immediately.
