Class 12th Student moved High Court for 1 mark, gets 28

MP Board Exam Postponed: MP Board 10th & 12th exams postponed due to Coronavirus; exams of Classes 5 & 8 cancelled

Three years ago, a Class 12 student had moved to the High Court of Madhya Pradesh for ‘one mark’. Three days ago, the result came in his favour — Shantanu Shukla’s re-evaluation showed that he has got 28 marks more than before.

Shukla had taken the Class 12 MP Board Exams in 2018 & received 74.8% — making him ineligible for the Medhavi Chatra scheme of the State Govt. Shukla said that he was sure that he would get somewhere between 75-85%. A commerce student from Sagar, Shukla said, “ I was disappointed after the results were announced as I had received only 50 marks in the subject Book keeping & Accountancy. I was expecting much more so I decided to go ahead with the re-totalling option ( re-calculation of the total of the marks given by the examiner in any subject) with the MP board. I applied for it & submitted the Rs 5,000 fee for it,” he told the news agency.

The re-totalling was not satisfactory, after which he applied to procure original answer sheets & showed them to the experts of commerce subjects. “They alerted me about the negligence in checking my answer sheet.

Shukla spoke to his family & a lawyer helped him move the court. The advocate told him that cases related to education are directly heard by the HC.

A petition was filed in Jabalpur high court & there were 44 hearings. An additional amount of Rs 10,000 was also spent in the court case . The court gave notices to the Board. In October last year, the court ordered revaluation, Shantanu said.

The new result declared three days ago showed an increase of 28 marks in Book keeping & Accountancy.
“I fought for one mark but got 28,” he said.
