3 Advocates held for beating Tehsildars

 

Tehsildars & other revenue officials have gone on a strike in Chhattisgarh demanding action against lawyers, who assaulted officials in the Raigarh district 3 days ago. In Raigarh, other Govt staff have also joined the agitation in their support.

There is an allegation against 4 lawyers that they manhandled 2 tehsildars in Hasil office. Reportedly, there was a dispute between the lawyers & the employees regarding the transfer of land. The lawyers accused that the tehsildar first pushed them after which 2 naib tehsildar intervened to sort the situation but were thrashed by the lawyers. Based on a video, police have registered cases.

As per police, Raigarh police has arrested three accused lawyers including Jitendra Sharma from Dabhra in Janjgir on Monday morning. After this, the other accused lawyer Deepak Moonak has also been arrested till noon. On Sunday, the police had arrested an accused lawyer Bhuvan Sao under Section 147 (punishment for rioting). Now only one accused is left. According to sources, the lawyers are busy preparing the bail of their associates. The decision has not been taken yet.

The dispute between the naib tehsildars & the lawyers in Raigarh has spread all over the state and Chhattisgarh Junior Administrative Service Association and tehsildars across the state were on strike on Monday. In Raigarh, everything except schools, colleges & emergency services all the establishments, hotels & businesses were on lockdown.
