Blessed and Honoured: Girl writes to Bar Members who decided to fund her education as her mother struck in bitter Maintenance battle

 Justice Najmi Waziri

In what could be called a very generous act, the Bar Members and Delhi High Court came togther to aid a girl in pursuing her law degree by arranging funds for the education as her mother is struck in a maintenance war with her father.

The girl, who preferred to remain anonymous, has written to Justice Najmi Waziri, Sr. Adv. Mohit Mathur, Adv. Kumar Prashantthe Delhi High Court Bar Association and the Advocates for making it possible for her to secure legal career.

As per the facts, the father of the girl stated that he had no funds to make the payment for her college fees in a hearing before Justice Najmi Waziri. He had deserted the wife and two children and expressed his inability to pay any further maintenance dues.

During the course of the hearing, the girl appeared via video-conferencing and burst into tears while informing the Court that if she did not pay the fee before January 10, 2022, the college will not permit her to sit for her 5th Semester law examinations.

Soon after that, several lawyers requested the Court to post the matter after a few minutes so the logistics of this may be looked into.

In an emotional overwhelming situation, the lawyers decided to take care of the dues are collected and deposited in the account of the mother of the girl and infromed so to the Bench.

In the letter, the girl has thanked the Bar Members for their kind gesture as she was deeply overwhelmed and appreciative of their support.

"Our hope in the legal system never faded away, rather it got more and more strengthened in every passing day, as when our shiniest wheels were rusting causing us loss of education, legal fraternity and our trust in the legal system helped us in an unimagined way", the letter reads.

"Your generosity has inspired us to help others and give back to the community...", she further said.

She admitted that she can now focus on her studies since the financial burden is relaxed.

Advocate Prashant Kumar had represented the mother of the law student.
