The Special CBI Court in Bhopal, on Wednesday, convicted four persons in the Vyapam scam and sentenced them to seven years of imprisonment.

The Central Bureau of Investigation had filed a chargesheet against three candidates - Pushpendra Singh Jadon, O.K.Yadav, Manoj Singh Kushwaha and an impersonator Shrinivas Singhal for their role in rigging the Madhya Pradesh Police Constable Recruitment Test (PCRT) - 2012 examination. The candidates were selected in the exams with the help of an impersonator.

FOUR ACCUSED CONVICTED IN VYAPAM SCAM

Based on the evidence collected by CBI during the investigation, the court found the three candidates and an impersonator guilty of the crime.

The CBI had lodged an FIR on August 5, 2015 on the instructions of the Supreme Court and took over the investigation of the case, which was earlier registered by Bhopal Police’s Special Task Force.

“It was alleged that the Police Constable Recruitment Test was conducted by Vyapam, Bhopal during the year 2012 and the selection of various candidates in PCRT 2012 was allegedly done through unfair means,” said CBI Spokesperson RC Joshi.

After conducting an investigation, the CBI filed its chargesheet against Pushpendra Singh Jadon, O.K.Yadav, Manoj Singh Kushwaha and Shrinivas Singhal for their involvement in the crime.

“These accused included beneficiary candidates who got their selection in the PCRT - 2012 Examination through unfair means and impersonator,” added the CBI spokesperson.
