The next and 6th round of meetings between the Central Government and representatives of farmers' Unions will be held on 9th of December. The 5th round of talks to address the issues concerning the farmers was held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi yesterday. Talking to reporters after the meeting, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar reassured the farmers' Unions that the system of Minimum Support Price, MSP will continue and there is no threat to it.
Mr Tomar reiterated the Government’s commitment to the welfare of the farmers. He said the government is ready to hold talks with the farmers to resolve their issues. He appealed to the protesting farmers to withdraw their protest.
The Agriculture Minister reassured the farmers' Unions that the Narendra Modi government is fully committed to the interest of farmers and will remain so in future. He said, in the last six years, major reforms have been undertaken under the leadership of Mr Modi in the agriculture sector.
He said, several agricultural schemes have been implemented, income of farmers have been increased, agricultural budget and MSP has also been raised.
