Ministry of Information and Broadcasting issued notices to various news portals, websites and news agencies

 
 They said that they would have to give the information of the company and its shareholding within a month along with the name and address of the directors and shareholders.

New Delhi: The government has issued new guidelines for units that publish and broadcast news or current affairs through digital mediums.

Under these instructions, they have been given one month to comply with the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) rules. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting issued these instructions on November 16.

Foreign equity up to 26 percent has been exempted in such companies. The ministry has said in the notice issued to news portals, websites and news agencies that the relevant bodies will have to execute the guidelines within a month.

The ministry has given details of the guidelines in the notice, which are to be followed. Significantly, the government had issued instructions on FDI in digital medium on 18 September 2019.
