The Bar Council of India in a meeting with State Bar Councils asked the Union Government to formulate a law for protecting the Advocates and their families.
The meeting was held on Sunday in which the Central Government was asked to legislate an effective law to safeguard the lives, interests and welfare of the Advocates and their families. Further, a demand was raised to grant sufficient compensation in case there was any harm or injury caused to the Advocates and their families.
Another noteworthy agenda discussed in the meeting was related to uniform rules for the enrolment fee, approval of the BCI Rules for Registration and Regulation of Foreign Lawyers and Foreign Law Firms in India, 2022 and the qualification for being a voted and member of BCI and State Bar Councils. Several resolutions were also passed regarding the same.
Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court of India Mr. Manan Kumar Sharma, who is also the Chairman of the Bar Council of India presided over the meeting.
