The Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa has initiated disciplinary proceedings against an Advocate for filing a PIL against sitting Bombay High Court Judge Justice Revati Mohite Dere.
The Council is of the opinion that with such an act, he has allegedly maligned and tarnished hers as well as the Judiciary’s image and has thus constituted a 3-member disciplinary committee against Advocate Mursalin Shaikh.
In his social media post, he has made frivolous allegations against the currently serving Judge which amounts to 'cheap publicity and sensationalizing and scandalizing the image of Judiciary' as per the Council.
This is not first of its kind act on part of the Advocate as he had previously sought orders against appointment of Justice DY Chandrachud as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and his criminal prosecution regarding adjudication of few cases which was eventually dismissed.
