Sitting Judge of Patna HC, Justice Anil Kumar Upadhyay passes away

 

On Wednesday morning, Justice Dr Anil Kumar Upadhyay of the Patna high court died at Chennai.

Justice Upadhyay was undergoing treatment for his liver & kidney diseases. Justice Upadhyay was elevated as Judge of the Patna HC on May 22, 2017. He had authored some landmark judgements. His body will arrive from Chennai on Thursday afternoon.

 

On getting information about the demise of Justice Upadhyay during commencement of court proceedings at 10:30 am, every bench of the high court rose up & hearings of all the cases listed got adjourned. Even the election of the office-bearers of Barrister Association scheduled for the day got postponed to March 15.

Advocate general P K Shahi, Bar Council of India chairman Manan Mishra, state bar council chairman Ramakant Sharma, its members Yogesh Chandra Verma & Rajeev Kumar Singh & many senior advocates expressed their condolences on the unfortunate sudden demise of a sitting judge, who was to demit his office in December 2024.
