Law Minister Kiren Rijiju informed Rajya Sabha that the Government has no plan to introduce any system of stipend for young advocates to tackle with the severe under payment faced by them.
He replied to an Unstarred Question related to whether Government has any plan to introduce a system of stipend for young advocates.
The Minister further stated that once a law graduate enrolls as an advocate, he/she learns the skills of advocacy in the process of gaining requisite experience.
The Chief Minister of Kerala has recently sstarted the Stipend scheme for lawyers in the state of Kerala. The scheme is to be implemented by the Bar Council of the state. The council will be joined by the Advocates Welfare Trust. Under the scheme, the junior lawyers in the state will be paid three thousand rupees every month.
