Minister for State in Ministry of Home Affairs , Shri Ajay Kumar Mishra informed Lok Sabha that 678 convicts are in jails due to non-payment of fine amount after completion of their sentence.
He replied to an Unstarred Question related to number of prisoners who have not been released from the jails even after completing their sentence in the country.
Uttar Pradesh has most number of convicts i.e. 172 followed by Maharashtra (75) and Madhya Pradesg (65).
