Court Boycott: High Court issues notice to Bar Council, High Court Bar Association

 

On Tuesday, the Rajasthan High Court issued a notice to the Bar Council of Rajasthan & the High Court Bar Association taking suo motu cognisance of the lawyers’ boycott of courts. The replies have to be filed by March 2.

Lawyers have been boycotting courts since Feb 19 seeking the advocates’ protection Act. Advocate General Mahendra Singhvi said he & other additional advocate generals were obstructed from appearing in Courts.

He said the president of the Lawyers’ Association, Jodhpur, has issued a derogatory letter to him. Singhvi said he will follow the law & expressed apprehension that he might be expelled from the Bar.
