There is no relief for litigants as the agitating lawyers said they will continue to boycott Courts ‘voluntarily’ till the Advocates Protection Act is passed on March 21 as promised by the Govt of Rajasthan.
However, they have cancelled their proposed assembly gherao on March 13 much to the relief of the police & administration.
The lawyers' apprehension is that the assembly is currently scheduled to meet till March 20 & if the House is not extended after that, the bill would remain pending. To continue the pressure on the government, the lawyers’ bodies said they will resume work only after March 21.
The lawyers have been boycotting court since February 19 seeking the Advocates Protection Act & a meeting of the ministers & the representatives of the bar associations held on Thursday have come to an understanding that the bill would be tabled in the House of March 15 & would be passed after discussion in the House on March 21.
Lawyers said the Govt had given them in writing on the Act in 2019 & in 2021 & this time they do not want to take any risk.
The Govt said that since the business advisory committee of the assembly had already finalised the business of the House till March 20, it will be possible for them to take up the bill only after March 20. But the lawyers are adamant.
