On Thursday, CJI DY Chandrachud announced that Supreme Court has introduced neutral citation for all its judgments.
CJI Chandrachud announced in an open court hearing that this will be for all 30,000 judgments.
"We have launched neutral citations of the Supreme Court. This is for all the 30,000 judgments of the Supreme court. First tranche is of 2014 till Jan 1, 2023 and the other tranche will be from 1950 till 2013," the CJI said.
He also informed that Supreme Court has employed machine learning tools to translate its judgments from English to vernacular languages. A team of district judges, law researchers and high court judges has been asked to proof read the judgements so translated, he told.
The Top Court, had in last year appointed a three-member panel of High Court judges to develop and implement a uniform and unique citation for apex court judgments.
