Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that to build a developed India,
the country is focussing on four pillars - infrastructure, investment,
innovation and inclusion. Mr Modi said, today, the entire world is
reposing its faith in India and it is being looked up as a country that
can bring stability to the global supply chain. He noted that the
country will be able to take full advantage of this only if states take
lead, maintain focus on quality and take decisions with an India-first
approach. The Prime Minister said this while addressing the second
National Conference of Chief Secretaries in Delhi yesterday.
The three-day Conference focused on achieving rapid and sustained
economic growth in partnership with the States. He added that States
should focus on pro-development governance, ease of doing business, ease
of living and provision of robust infrastructure. Prime Minister
Narendra Modi also called upon the Chief Secretaries to focus on ending
mindless compliances and outdated laws and rules. He said, at a time
when India is initiating unparalleled reforms, there is no scope for
over-regulation and mindless restrictions. During the Conference, the
Aspirational Blocks programme was also launched by the Prime Minister.
The programme will improve the Ease Of Living for citizens in over 500
identified blocks across the country.
Discussing how different government departments keep asking for the same
documents, the Prime Minister said that today the need of the hour is
to move towards self-certification, deemed approvals and standardisation
of forms. He also spoke about how the country is working towards
bettering both physical and social infrastructure and discussed PM
GatiShakti National Masterplan. He stressed the need to continue
strengthening the MSME sector. He said this is important in order to
become Aatmanirbhar and boost economic growth. He said that it is
equally important to popularise local products. Mr Modi also highlighted
why quality is essential in every sphere of the economy.
