Be careful while giving your car to parking attendants around the Patiala House court complex.
On Friday afternoon, an advocate handed over his car to a parking attendant, but in a hurry to clear the jam, the attendant gave the keys to another person who asked for them pretending like he was the car owner. When the advocate came out of the Court to take his car, he found it missing & then alerted the police.
According to the police, a call was received around 1pm regarding the theft of a Hyundai Creta car bearing a Haryana number from the court complex. "The complainant, an advocate in Patiala House Court, namely S Rambir was contacted. He stated that his car has a tracker system. The car was intercepted at the ring road near IP Metro Station. The accused, Gaurav Kumar (32), who has finished his LLB & was in the process of getting his registration, was arrested," said a senior police officer.
The Officer added, "The modus operandi of the accused is that he dresses up like he is a working professional & then waits to see when the parking attendants are in a hurry to get the cars out. Then he confidently asks for the keys & takes the car away".
He parked the car on the ring road & waited for two hours to see if the cops were chasing him. He was aware that the lawyer will take time to come out of the court.
