On Wednesday, a Magistrate’s Court cancelled the bailable warrant issued against Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut after he appeared before it. “Warrant cancelled subject to admonition..,” the Court said. Raut also moved a bail petition which the court granted on a personal bond of Rs 15,000.
Last week, the Court issued the warrant after he had failed to appear in a defamation case filed by professor Medha Kirit Somaiya, wife of BJP leader Kirit Somaiya. The matter has been adjourned to July 18.
In her complaint, Medha claimed that on April 15 & thereafter Raut had made malicious & unwarranted statements against her & it was printed, published & circulated in the general public at large through electronic & print media.
