According to Police, the judge received a WhatsApp message from an unknown number & the accused asked for the amount in lieu of sending a gift voucher to the officer.

Sidcul SHO Pramod Kumar Uniyal said, "Since the person's WhatsApp profile picture was that of someone known to the judge, he transferred the money in good faith. The accused had asked him to send 15 gift vouchers of Rs 10,000. Later, he came to know that the person (known to him) had never sent the message & the number was fake."
