Rajasthan High Court issues notice to Ministry of Road and Highways in a PIL seeking directions to regulate Fitness Certificate issues of the vehicles

 

The Division Bench of the Rajasthan High Court, comprising Chief Justice Akil Qureshi and Justice Manoj Kumar Vyas in the case of Raahat The Safe Community Foundation v. Ministry Of Road Transport And Highways has issued notice to Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in a PIL seeking to restrain unregulated Vehicle Fitness Centers from issuing certificates.

Reasoning and Decision of the Court

The public interest litigation has been filed by an NGO namely, Raahat The Safe Community Foundation herein petitioner with a view to curb the menace of road accidents occurring from plying of unfit vehicles in Rajasthan.

Looking into the grievance of the matter, the Court issued notice to the Respondent i.e. Ministry of Roads and Highway and posted the matter on March 15, 2022.
