In poll-bound Uttar Pradesh, electoral
campaign is reaching peak on the penultimate day of electioneering for
the Third Phase Assembly Elections along with the Single-Phase polls in
Punjab today.
After completion of the first two phases polling in Uttar Pradesh and
Single-Phase polling in Goa and Uttarakhand, all political parties
shifted their focus to the next phases of elections.
Political parties have now intensified their poll campaign for the
subsequent phases in UP and Two-Phase polling in Manipur. The Star
Campaigners and prominent leaders of various political parties are
engaged in public rallies.
The door to door canvassing and virtual appeals to the voters also
continue. The poll campaign has also picked up in Manipur with the party
leaders trying to reach out and woo the voters in different parts of
the state.
The Third Phase of polling in Uttar Pradesh will be conducted on Sunday in 59 Assembly Constituencies from 16 districts.
The electoral contests in the Third Phase of Assembly Elections in the state are mostly multi-cornered fixtures.
During the Single-Phase polling in Punjab, total 1,304 candidates are in fray for 117 seats after the withdrawal of candidature.
The filing of nominations for the Seventh and Last Phase of Assembly
polls in Uttar Pradesh is going to close today. In all, 440 nominations
were filed till the last evening. The scrutiny of nominations will be
undertaken tomorrow. The last date for withdrawal of candidature will be
21st of February.
The Seventh Phase of polling in Uttar Pradesh will be conducted on 7th
of next month in 54 Assembly Constituencies from nine districts.
Home Minister Amit Shah will address public meetings at Firozabad,
Mainpuri and Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh today. BJP President Jagat
Prakash Nadda will release party's manifesto in Manipur today. He will

Meanwhile, the scenario of electoral battle emerged for the Sixth Phase
of Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh along with the Second and Last
Phase of polling in Manipur after the withdrawal of candidature last
evening. The final picture shows that there are total 676 candidates in
fray for 57 Assembly seats.
In Manipur, there are 92 candidates including two women are contesting for 22 seats in the Second Phase.
The Fourth Phase of polling in Uttar Pradesh will be conducted on 23rd
of February in 59 Assembly Constituencies from nine districts including
16 ACs reserved for the Scheduled Castes.
The picture of the electoral contests in the Fourth Phase of Assembly
Elections in Uttar Pradesh also shows mostly multi-cornered contests on
cards. There are total 624 candidates in fray for 59 Assembly seats.
The Fifth Phase of polling in Uttar Pradesh will be conducted on 27th of
February in 61 Assembly Constituencies from 12 districts including nine
ACs reserved for the Scheduled Castes.
The electoral scenario in the Fifth Phase of Assembly Elections in Uttar
Pradesh shows that there are total 692 candidates in fray for 61
Assembly seats. During the First Phase of Assembly Elections in Manipur,
thirty-eight seats from six districts will go to polls on 28th of
February.
In Manipur, there are 173 candidates including 15 women are contesting for 38 seats in the First Phase.
The Sixth Phase of polling in Uttar Pradesh will be conducted on 3rd of
March in 57 Assembly Constituencies from 10 districts including 11 ACs
reserved for the Scheduled Castes.
In the Second Phase of Assembly Elections in Manipur, 22 seats spread
over ten districts will go to polls on 5th of March out of which eleven
seats are reserved for the Scheduled Tribes. .

Days ahead of Punjab Assembly Elections Punjab Chief Electoral Officer
Dr S Karuna Raju last evening held a virtual meeting with all the
Returning Officers (ROs) of the state to review the checklist for
Polling Stations and Dispatch Centre.
During the meeting, CEO directed officials to ensure the availability
all the COVID-19 materials at all polling stations and there should be
COVID dustbins placed at booths. He also asked ROs to ensure that web
cameras are working in all the polling booths.
Additional CEO DPS Kharbanda and Additional CEO Amit Kumar also attended the meeting.
Days ahead of Punjab Assembly Elections Punjab Chief Electoral Officer
Dr S Karuna Raju on Wednesday evening held a virtual meeting with all
the Returning Officers (ROs) of the state to review the checklist for
Polling Stations and Dispatch Centre.
During the meeting, Dr S Karuna Raju directed all the officers to ensure
that appropriate arrangements be made at each polling station, as per
the instructions of the Election Commission of India.
CEO directed officials to ensure the availability all the COVID-19
material including Mask, Gloves, PPE, Soaps, Thermometer, Sanitizer etc
at every polling station and there should be COVID dustbins placed at
booths. He also asked ROs to ensure that web cameras are working in all
the polling booths.
He asked ROs to identify 5-10 volunteers for facilitating PwDs and elderly people at the Polling booths.
He also asked to ensure pick and drop facilitiy to Elderly and PwD voters.
He asked them to install selfie points and Muscat Shera at all the
Polling booths. Dr Raju also directed ROs to give a warm welcome to
Young voters, who are casting their vote for the first time by giving
them certificates or flowers.
Punjab Chief Electoral Officer also instructed to use eco-friendly
material such as paper glass, paper plates and eco-friendly plastic
flexes etc. during the ensuing Vidhan Sabha Polls as per directions of
Election Commission of India and Kerala high court's decision.
He also ordered to use good quality public address system during
disbursal of poll parties and collection of polled EVMs and give utmost
hustle free environment to women staff.
Dr S Karuna Raju asked ROs to take Special care of Women staff and
provide them drop facility in case they gets free in late evening. He
asked the officials that the names of all the polling stations and
booths should be clearly readable and ensure the cleanliness in the
toilets besides providing safe drinking water to the electors.
CEO asked the officials to send activity pictures and videos of polling
day to the office of Chief Electoral Office. Giving instructions on
Dispatch Centres, Dr Raju asked ROs to make sure that there are separate
counters, proper lighting, drinking water/refreshment facilities, safe
parking of vehicles of polling staff, and temporary toilets are
available at the Dispatch Centres. He also asked them to ensure all the
EVM carrying vehicles are equipped with Global Positioning System (GPS).
Additional CEO DPS Kharbanda and Additional CEO Amit Kumar also
attended the meeting.
