Author and founder of the Sundaram Climate Institute, Mridula Ramesh talks about India's looming water crisis, how we got here and how we can get out.

Mitali Mukherjee

Pollution, be it of air, water or noise, has been a perennial problem in India. Consequently, a water crisis looms over the nation’s future, the effects of which are felt in urban centres in all corners of the country, especially in the South. Some experts believe that by 2030, India will fail to meet even 50% of its water demand.

How did we reach this breaking point and how will we work our way out of this crisis? The Wire‘s Mitali Mukherjee speaks with Mridula Ramesh, author and founder of the Sundaram Climate Institute whose recent book, Watershed addresses just these problems.
