On Monday, Justice Rajesh Bindal took oath as Chief Justice of the High Court of Allahabad at Raj Bhavan in Lucknow.
Earlier in Septr, the 3-member SC Collegium headed by CJI NV Ramana & comprising Justice UU Lalit & Justice A M Khanwilkar recommended the then acting Chief Justice of Calcutta HC Rajesh Bindal be transferred as the Chief Justice of Allahabad HC.
Justice Rajesh Bindal, B Com, LL B, enrolled as an Advocate on Sept 14, 1985. He practised in the High Court of Punjab & Haryana & Central Administrative Tribunal, in Taxation, Constitutional, Civil & Service cases.
He was appointed as a Permanent Judge of the Punjab & Haryana HC on March 22, 2006. He was transferred to Common High Court for Union territory of Jammu & Kashmir & Union territory of Ladakh on Nov 19, 2018.
He was appointed as Acting Chief Justice of Common High Court for Union territory of Jammu & Kashmir & Union territory of Ladakh on December 9, 2020. He was transferred to the High Court of Calcutta on Jan 5, 2021.
