On July 5, Father Stan Swamy passed away after spending nearly eight months in prison, without trial under an anti-terror law. The inhuman conditions he was subjected to exacerbated his Parkinson’s disease. He was one of the jailed human rights advocates also known as the Bhima Koregaon 16, arrested over charges of having links with Maoist rebels.
