India has administered
over three crore 50 lakh COVID vaccination doses to the beneficiaries in
the country so far. Union Health Ministry in a statement said that of
them over 75 lakh 6 thousand Healthcare Workers received 1st dose of
vaccine while 45 lakh 54 thousand were given 2nd dose. In case of
Frontline workers, nearly 76 lakh took the 1st dose while 16 lakh 47
thousand have received the 2nd dose of vaccine.
The Ministry said, over 21 lakh 66 thousand beneficiaries aged more
than 45 years with specific co-morbidities and over one crore 15 lakh
beneficiaries aged more than 60 years were given the 1st dose of
vaccine. It said, more than 21 lakh 17 thousand people have been
inoculated with Covid-19 doses in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the country's COVID-19 recovery rate reached 96.56 per cent
with the total recovery of more than 17 thousand patients in the last 24
hours. The Ministry said that more than one crore ten lakh patients
have already been recovered from this disease. Presently, the total
number of active cases in the country is over two lakh 34 thousand which
comprises only 2.05 per cent of the total positive cases.
A total number of 28 thousand 903 new cases have been reported in the
country in the past 24 hours taking the cumulative positive cases to
over one crore 14 lakh. Maharashtra, Punjab, Karnataka, Gujarat and
Tamil Nadu continue to report a high number of daily new cases. They
collectively account for 71.10 per cent of the new cases reported in the
last 24 hours.
The Health Ministry said, 188 deaths have been reported during the last 24 hour taking the toll to over one lakh 59 thousand across the country.
The Indian Council of Medical Research said that various laboratories have conducted more than nine lakh 69 thousand tests of corona virus samples during the last 24 hours and more than 22 crore 92 lakh tests have been done in the country so far.
