Ninth round of talks with farmers is also inconclusive, next meeting on January 19

 Farmers' organizations said that they are committed to continue direct talks to remove the deadlock. On the other hand, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said that the talks of the ninth round were held in a cordial atmosphere, but no result was achieved. He hoped that a decision can be reached in the meeting to be held on 19 January.

 New Delhi: Even in the ninth round of talks between the farmers and the government, who are protesting against the agricultural laws on various borders of Delhi, no solution could be found for this deadlock. This time also, no agreement could be reached between the two sides regarding the repeal of agricultural laws and the MSP Act. In the talks held on Friday with the three Union Ministers, where the protesting farmers were adamant on their demand to repeal the three new disputed agricultural laws, the government remained firm on its desire for necessary amendments in the law. In the two sides decided that the next meeting would be held on 19 January. This is the first meeting since the committee set up by the Supreme Court to remove the long-standing deadlock over agricultural laws. Farmer leader Joginder Singh Ugrahan told reporters after the meeting that the farmers' organizations urged the government to repeal the three laws but the Center appeared reluctant to do so. He said, 'We have decided to meet again on January 19 at 12 noon.' Ugrahan said that during the meeting, leaders of farmer organizations raised the issue of NIA raids on transporters in Punjab who support the farmers' protests. And are providing facilities for movement.In the meeting which lasted for about five hours, including the lunch break, the farmers' organizations said that they are committed to continue direct talks to remove the deadlock over the three agricultural laws.


Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, Railways, Commerce and Food Minister Piyush Goyal and Minister of State for Commerce and MP from Punjab Som Prakash held the ninth round of talks at Vigyan Bhawan with representatives of about 40 farmer organizations. Kavita Kurungati, a member of the All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee, who attended the meeting, said, "The government and farmer organizations have committed to continue the process of direct dialogue." Earlier on January 12, the Supreme Court had stayed the implementation of three agricultural laws till further orders. The apex court had constituted a four-member committee to end the deadlock in the case. However, Bhupendra Singh Mann, member of the committee and president of Bhartiya Kisan Union, separated himself from the committee on Thursday. Baljit Singh Bali of the Punjab Kisan Morcha said, 'Tomar ji in his opening remarks said that you are constantly saying that the government is adamant and maintains it a question of prestige, whereas we have accepted your many demands. Don't you think that you should be flexible and should not stick to the demand to repeal the law only. ' Farmer leader Darshan Pal said, “There was a good discussion about the three laws. There is a possibility of finding some solution. We are positive. Another farmer leader Rakesh Tikait said, 'The government told us that the solution should be taken out of negotiations, not in the court. Everyone is of the same opinion that there is a possibility of some solution. '
