Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, Railways, Commerce and Food Minister Piyush Goyal and Minister of State for Commerce and MP from Punjab Som Prakash held the ninth round of talks at Vigyan Bhawan with representatives of about 40 farmer organizations.
Kavita Kurungati, a member of the All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee, who attended the meeting, said, "The government and farmer organizations have committed to continue the process of direct dialogue."
Earlier on January 12, the Supreme Court had stayed the implementation of three agricultural laws till further orders. The apex court had constituted a four-member committee to end the deadlock in the case. However, Bhupendra Singh Mann, member of the committee and president of Bhartiya Kisan Union, separated himself from the committee on Thursday.
Baljit Singh Bali of the Punjab Kisan Morcha said, 'Tomar ji in his opening remarks said that you are constantly saying that the government is adamant and maintains it a question of prestige, whereas we have accepted your many demands. Don't you think that you should be flexible and should not stick to the demand to repeal the law only. '
Farmer leader Darshan Pal said, “There was a good discussion about the three laws. There is a possibility of finding some solution. We are positive.
Another farmer leader Rakesh Tikait said, 'The government told us that the solution should be taken out of negotiations, not in the court. Everyone is of the same opinion that there is a possibility of some solution. '
