Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has canceled the Kisan Mahapanchayat after demonstrators protesting against the three agricultural laws of the central government at the venue.
The mahapanchayat was scheduled to take place in Kaimla village in Karnal district and Chief Minister Khattar was supposed to tell people the 'benefits' of the three agricultural laws of the Center.
BJP leader Raman Mallick said that the program has been canceled due to the spurious behavior of farmers at the behest of BKU leader Gurnam Singh Charuni.
Under the aegis of Bharatiya Kisan Union (Charuni), the farmers had earlier announced that they would oppose the 'Kisan Mahapanchayat'. They are demanding the repeal of three agricultural laws.
Farmers carried black flags on Sunday and were trying to march towards the village of Camla, shouting slogans against the BJP-led government.
