Chandigarh: Many former players, including Padma Shri and Arjuna Award honors, supported the farmers who were protesting against the agricultural laws, saying that they would return their awards in protest against the use of 'force' against the protesters during the Delhi Cooch. These players include Padma Shri and Arjuna Award winning wrestler Kartar Singh, Arjuna Awardee player Sajjan Singh Cheema and Arjuna Awardee Hockey player Rajbir Kaur. These players said that on December 5, they will go to Delhi and keep their awards outside Rashtrapati Bhavan. He condemned the central government and the Haryana government for dropping water cannons and tear gas shells to stop the farmers traveling to Delhi. Speaking to the media at the Jalandhar Press Club, Olympic hockey player Cheema said on Tuesday, "We are children of farmers and they have been performing peacefully for the last several months." Not a single incident of violence took place during that time. ' He said, 'But when he was going to Delhi, tear gas bullets were used against him and water splashes were released. What will we do with our award and honor if the turban of our elders and brothers is uprooted? We support our farmers. We do not want such awards, so returning them. ' Singh said that many former players will go to Delhi on December 5 and return their awards. Singh, who retired from the post of Inspector General of Punjab Police, said, "If the farmers do not want such laws, then why is the central government imposing this on them." He said that on December 5, the former players will also be involved in the demonstration of farmers happening on the border of Delhi. Cheema said that many players including Kaur and Arjuna Award (Shotfoot) winner Balwinder Singh are supporting them. According to the NDTV report, hockey player Gulmel Singh, who was awarded the Arjuna Award and the gold medal at the Olympics, and former Indian hockey team captain Rajbir Kaur, also known as the Golden Girl, were also at the press conference with Cheema. They say that about 150 players from Punjab will return all their Padma Shri and Arjuna awards. Explain that thousands of farmers are protesting against the new agriculture law for the last six days on the borders of Delhi. The farmers say that they have come to Delhi for a decisive fight and till their demands are met, their protest will continue. The farmers are stuck on the Singhu and Tikari borders. On behalf of the Central Government, three bills related to agriculture- Farmer Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020, Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Price Assurance Contracts and Agricultural Services Bill, 2020 and Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill, 2020. On 27 September, the President gave his approval, against which farmers are protesting. Farmers fear that the government is ending the established system of providing minimum support price (MSP) through these ordinances and if implemented, farmers will have to live on the mercy of the traders. On the other hand, the BJP-led Modi government at the Center has repeatedly denied this. The government is calling these ordinances 'historic agricultural reform'. He says that they are making an alternative system for the sale of agricultural produce.
