The government has said that almost 24 lakh paddy farmers are benefitted from the continued Kharif Marketing Season Procurement Operations with MSP outflow of over 52 thousand 781 crore rupees. Agriculture Ministry during a statement said that paddy procurement for Kharif 2020-21 is constant smoothly within the procuring States of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh , Telangana, Uttarakhand, Tamil Nadu , Chandigarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh .
It said, so far, over 279 Lakh Metric Tonnes of paddy are procured against the last year corresponding purchase of 230.52 Lakh Metric Tonnes. It shows a rise of 21.27 per cent over last year. Out of the entire
purchase of over 279 Lakh Metric Tonnes, Punjab alone has contributed
194.63 Lakh Metric Tonnes which is 69.62 per cent of total procurement.
The Ministry said, supported the proposal from the States, approval was accorded for procurement of over 45 Lakh Metric Tonnes of Pulse and Oilseeds of Kharif Marketing Season 2020 for the States of Tamil Nadu , Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telangana, Gujarat, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh under subsidy Scheme.
