Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra said on Tuesday that the
state government will bring a bill in the next assembly session to enact
a strict law against 'Love Jihad'.
Mishra said that by declaring
'Love Jihad' as a non-bailable offense, a provision of five years
rigorous imprisonment for the main accused and its partners is being
made.
He told reporters here, 'Marriage is now going on very fast by
getting converted. It is called Love Jihad in your language. In the
assembly, we are preparing to bring 'Madhya Pradesh Dharma Swatantra
Bill-2020'. We are bringing it to the assembly in the next session. '
The minister said, "We are keeping this provision of 5 years rigorous imprisonment on inducement, deception, fraud and forcible conversion on forced marriage."
According
to the Indian Express, the bill will also have this provision, in which
it will be necessary to inform the District Collector one month before
formalizing an inter-religious marriage.
Mishra said that in this
bill, this crime will be cognizable and non-bailable. He said, 'In this
way we are also making provision to declare marriage done for conversion
in temptation, coercion, fraud and fraud.'
Mishra said, "In this bill, people that cooperate with the perpetrator of crime also will be treated as criminal partners just like the main person of crime."
He
said that for action in the bill, it would be necessary to complain to
the person who was forced to convert or his parents or siblings.
Even
earlier, it was indicated by the Shivraj government that she would
bring a law against 'Love Jihad'. Earlier this month, Chief Minister
Shivraj Singh Chauhan said, "There will be no jihad in the name of
love." Whoever does such an act will be corrected and a legal system
will be created for that. '
Earlier, BJP governments in Uttar Pradesh
and Haryana have also been asked to enact a law on love jihad, although
it is worth noting that under Article 21 of the Indian Constitution,
anyone can marry a person of their choice. Is free.
In an election
rally held in Jaunpur on 31 October, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi
Adityanath has also said about his government's strictness on 'love
jihad'.
However, Uttar Pradesh Law Commission Chairman Justice
(Rita.) Aditya Nath Mittal while talking to The Hindu said that if the
state government curbs' Love Jihad 'there is someone to stop marriages
between Hindus and Muslims' If the law of limited scope brings, then it
will not stand in front of the law.
Earlier in February itself, the
Government of India itself had told the Parliament that nothing like
'Love Jihad' is defined anywhere in the current laws and no central
investigative agency has any such case.
Haryana Home Minister said, a committee will be formed to draft a law against 'Love Jihad'
Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij said on Tuesday that a committee would be formed to draft a "strict" law against "love jihad".
Vij
said after a meeting with senior officials on this issue that Haryana
would study the laws made by other states in this regard.
According
to an official statement, Vij chaired a meeting with senior officials of
the Home Department and said, "A strict law will be enacted against
'Love Jihad' in the state." A committee are going to be formed to draft this law. '

is found to be involved in religious conversion by putting pressure or

Vij said that among others, officials of the Home Department, Advocate General will be part of this committee.
Additional Chief Secretary
(Home Department) Rajiv Arora, Director General of Police Manoj Yadav,
Additional Director General of Police, CID, Alok Mittal were among the
officials present within the meeting.
Earlier this month, Vij told the Haryana legislature that the government was considering a law against 'Love Jihad' and sought information from Himachal Pradesh, which passed a bill on the issue.
