The air quality in the national capital has improved significantly from poor category to moderate category. The city has been struggling with very poor air quality since the beginning of winter season and it worsened during Diwali. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, the city's Air Quality Index was recorded 165 at 10 A.M. An Air Quality Index between 201 and 300 is considered poor, 301 to 400 very poor and 401 to 500 severe.According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research, SAFAR, the surface winds are West- south-westerly and energetic, which is very favourable for pollutant dispersion. Rainfall along with stronger winds under the influence of Western disturbance helped to clean the build-up of pollution in the Indo Gangetic Plain.
It said, stubble burning share in PM 2.5 in Delhi's air is almost negligible and estimated at three per cent for today. SAFAR has predicted that the air quality is likely to marginally deteriorate and will reach in Poor category tomorrow.
