Afghan forces have arrested the mastermind of a brutal attack at Kabul University earlier this month. The National Directorate of Security said that special forces arrested the main mastermind behind the attack, Mohammad Adel, in a targeted operation in Kabul.
Earlier, Afghani Vice President Amrullah Saleh had said that Adel was behind the university attack. He said Adel was recruited by the Haqqani network, an Afghan terror group affiliated with the Taliban. Saleh said that the attack was carried out to pressure, defame and make the government look weak in front of the people.
Three gunmen had stormed the university's campus in broad daylight on 2nd of this month, spraying bullets into classrooms. At least 22 people were killed and 27 more injured before Afghan forces killed the attackers.
