After the death of 15 crows in Reethi block of Katni district, Collector Mr. Singh, as a precautionary measure to take action as per the instructions of the Government of India, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, Dairy for the prevention and control of avian influenza (bird flu). Collector Mr. Singh has asked all the field officers and employees of the Animal Husbandry Department to constitute Rapid Response Team and collect samples of migratory birds in the reservoirs of the immediate area and poultry samples in nearby villages and send them to Bhopal for testing. In the irrigated area of the district, Animal Husbandry, Forest, Irrigation and Fisheries Department should constitute their teams and send samples of poultry and migratory birds for examination. Subdivisional officer of the district Revenue should keep constant watch through the poultry form of its subdivision, animal husbandry and revenue officers in the backyard and follow the bio-security norms. In case of unnatural or suspicious death of birds or chickens from anywhere in the district, Deputy Director Veterinary Services should take immediate action. Send samples for testing. On receiving information about the disease in birds or chickens, only the authorized and responsible officers of the department should inform the media about the incident. Instructing the District Health, Animal Husbandry, Forest, Fisheries, Panchayat and Rural Development, Municipal Corporation, Irrigation, Public Works, Police and Revenue and Public Relations Department to ensure action as per the instructions of the Government of India in the event of an outbreak.
