SHIVA is not born. He always existed, exists and will exist for ever. That's why he is called Bhava, means ‘is there’ always at any time. He is the only God, who has been praised as neither born, nor dead. There is Narayanodbhavam, meaning something existed before he came. There is no Shivodbhavam. Vedas have mentioned very clearly that, “ kevalaha Rudraha, na dwitheeyam” meaning, only Rudra, nothing else. The essence of Vedas is that there are 3 states of Godliness. 1st, Shiva as Nirguna nirakaara as Paramjyothi state, 2nd as Shiva Linga, the Aroopa state, where neither nirakaara nor saakaara, but as an unborn child state representative of the early universe(Hiranya Garbha) and the 3rd state is Saakaara Narayana, who represents as the Lord of the universe. When Brahma sought help in creation of humans and other races, including Devas, Yaksharas, Kinneras, Naagas etc, Shiva and Shakti appeared as Uma Maheshwaraha and hence they are called as father and mother.
