On Saturday, the Supreme Court reserved its order in a petition of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) seeking the conversion of land allotted to the Top Court as a Chamber Block for Lawyers.
A three-judge bench of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice PS Narasimha reserved the verdict after hearing the arguments.
The issue has previously bought CJI DY Chandrachud and SCBA President Vikas Singh face to face as the latter took exception to the request for urgent listing being denied continuously.
Mr. Vikas's adamant gesture didn't please the CJI as he asked him to leave the courtroom after telling him that he has never been browbeaten by the Bar.
The squabble prompted the SCBA to stand with the President who has specially catered to the matter and demanded urgent listing by writing to both present and former CJIs.
He described the matter as one peculiar to him as it pertains to lives and livelihoods. In the letter, he had even signaled 'protesting' if the matter isn't given due attention.
A three-judge bench of CJI DY Chandrachud, Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul, and Justice PS Narasimha will hear the matter.
