The Sedition Law: Time to erase the blot on Indian democracy | ORF

The Supreme Court has dismissed CBI's challenge to the bail granted to Ex-Maharashtra Home Minister, Anil Deshmukh in a Corruption Case over alleged illegal gratification from bar owners and corruption in police transfers and postings.

A Bench headed by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and also comprising of Justice V Ramasubramanian and JB Pardiwala dismissed the SLP filed by CBI and remarked that the High Court's observation will not influence the trial and are only confined to the issue of bail.

The Bench told SG Tushar Mehta that the bail granted in the PMLA case was affirmed and proceeded to dismiss the petition summarily.
