Gangster Goldy Brar has been detained in California, US, Punjab chief
minister Bhagwant Mann confirmed on Friday while addressing a press
conference in poll-bound Gujarat.
"Goldy Brar will be extradited to India and will be punished according to the rule of law," Mann said.
Brar is learned to be in the custody of police in the US for over a week now.
The central agencies in India are in touch with the authorities in the US to get details of Goldy Brar, who is considered the mastermind in the cold-blooded murder of noted Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu aka Sidhu Moose Wala and also Dera Sacha Sauda follower Pardeep Singh.
It is only on Thursday that Moose Wala's father Balkaur Singh demanded the Punjab government to announce a reward of Rs 2 crore for the information about Goldy Brar and had offered to pay the money by selling his landholding.
Balkaur Singh on Friday said that he has no confirmation about the arrest of Goldy Brar in the US and has learned about it only from media reports. If it has happened it will be the biggest relief for the bereaved family.
Moose Wala was killed on May 29 at village Jawaharke near Mansa and Goldy Brar apart from another gangster Lawrance Bishnoi had owned responsibility. Likewise, the Dera follower was killed last month at his shop at Kotkapura and Goldy had taken responsibility. A red corner notice was issued for his arrest.
The police in Punjab said that it has come to their notice but no confirmation could be made.
