On Thursday, the Supreme Court granted bail to a life convict in the Godhra train burning of February 2002 which ultimately led to infamous Gujarat Riots.
The Bench of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha observed that the convict has been incaranated for long 17 years with appeal against the conviction still pending in Supreme Court.
To this regard, the Court also accepted request put forward by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta to list all appeals for final hearing including appeals filed by the State for enhancement of sentence.
